The ACE Consortium is a collaboration of organizations that are dedicated to accelerating biomedical research in the United States and around the world. The ACE public-private partnership model features a collaboration between the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), academic institutions, the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), and private and industry partners. The consortium leverages contributions by all the partners to construct and support the regional ACE Centers anchored in academic environments to enhance computational infrastructure, foster the development of advanced bioinformatics and data science skills among local researchers in Africa, and provide innovative, emerging technologies for biomedical research.
All members realize benefits by gaining experience in support of advanced computing and visualization infrastructure in remote, challenging environments. By working with graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, researchers, and administrators, private partners receive business interest from both current and future scientific leaders and researchers in Africa.
NIAID Contribution
The NIAID has committed to providing training and consultation services, installing, and maintaining telelearning systems and video conferencing capabilities, managing infrastructure supporting the programs, and maintaining software licenses.
Institute Contributions
